We are pleased to announce that Andrea Waddell joined Claphams on 30 July. Following her graduation from Glasgow Caledonian University and admission as a solicitor in 2015, Andrea has gained extensive experience in private client matters. She looks forward to working with clients requiring assistance in conveyancing, family law (including children’s cases), and immigration issues.
Notably, Andrea’s appointment as a solicitor makes Claphams a female-led firm: she joins Partners Debra Clapham and Lucy Weaver. The Scottish legal profession as a whole has improved in terms of gender equality in recent years – more than 60% of Scottish solicitors are female. However, men still outnumber women in terms of senior positions, and the Law Society of Scotland has found that men become equity partners two years earlier (on average) than their female peers.
Claphams Solicitors are accordingly immensely proud to have retained talented women in our firm, and to provide a strong example of a female-led firm working across a wide range of services. We are delighted that Andrea has chosen to further her career at Claphams. The firm is also committed to providing a high-quality training environment for more junior members of the profession, and we currently have a female trainee solicitor, Rabia Islam.
At Claphams, our expert solicitors provide tailored advice across many legal issues, including wills and executry, powers of attorney, guardianship orders, residential and commercial conveyancing, divorce and family law, civil litigation, and road traffic law. We are based in Clarkston, Glasgow and welcome enquiries from potential clients seeking advice in both personal and professional contexts. If you would like to speak to a member of our team, please do not hesitate to contact us.
